Gathering Information
Collect information to answer your questions.

On your summer vacation, you will make stops in at least three of Washington's regions. As you search for information on mountaineering, white water rafting, fishing and festivals, you will notice that different regions have different geographic features and different activities to offer. If you need a quick review of the characteristics of Washington's regions, visit World Book Online Encyclopedia for a review.

Open the Note Sheet to record the information you gather about the different regions of Washington.

Use the links below to investigate each activity for your trip:

mountaineering

rafting

fishing

festivals

If you need a quick review of the characteristics of Washington's regions, see the following resources:

  • Unit 4, "A Closer Look," in Discovering Washington by Ruth Pelz (4th grade Social Studies Textbook)
  • World Book Online's article on Washington State. Look for Land Regions in the article outline.  (note: The Okanogan Highlands region is referred to as Rocky Mountains in this resource.)
  • Map of Washington State

Add brief facts to your Note Sheet (printed copy or computer file) as instructed by your teacher.Next
