GOAL: Demonstrate your ability to create a coherent slide show (using Microsoft PowerPoint ) and present to a class audience.

TASK:
  • Use a storyboard to plan a slide show
  • Include 12 or more functions
  • Include scanned image & digital photo
  • Complete the Function Sheet & Storyboard
PRODUCT:
  • Slide show—6-10 slides—save in Network folder specified by teacher
  • Peer Evaluations (2 or more)
  • Presentation to your class

PROCEDURE:

Develop a presentation about a subject of your choice:

•  Personal interest or concern

•  Family or personal history

•  Favorite activity or topic

Your purpose is to deliver a message that informs or persuades. You may express yourself freely, as long as you are not offensive to anyone in class (no sex, drugs, violence), and do not violate district policy.

I. Basic Requirements:

  1. Use a storyboard to sketch out your ideas
  2. Minimum of 6-10 slides that tell a story
  3. First slide—title page—defines the presentation topic
  4. Second slide—table of contentsoutlines topic
  5. Final slide presents a summary or conclusion
  6. Minimum of 12 functions (see choices in table below)
  7. Include a scanned image
  8. Include a digital image
  9. Turn in a storyboard and list of functions used
  10. Turn in 2 or more peer evaluations

II. Slide Show Guidelines:

    1. Information is arranged coherently (logical, consistent and complete)
    2. Presentation persuades or informs its audience
    3. Information in bulleted formatno sentences or paragraphs
    4. Fonts are readable
    5. Graphics are appropriate and support the content
    6. Transitions are subtle and do not distract from the presentation
    7. Animation effects enhance the presentation or make a point
    8. Borders are used effectively to set all graphics off from the background
    9. Backgrounds are reasonably consistent throughout

III. Presentation Guidelines:

    1. Speak clearly with a volume that is easy to hear
    2. Maintain eye contact—look at your audience, not your notes
    3. Control pace of slide changes—use automatic timing or help from a peer
    4. Summarize slide contents—don't read word-for-word to your audience
