2026 Promise Award recipients celebrated
Bellingham Public Schools recently made surprise announcement visits to celebrate recipients of 2026 Promise Awards, and we are excited to announce the honorees to our community.
Facilities Planning Task Force
Bellingham Public Schools convenes Facility Planning Task Force groups regularly (approximately every five years) to review enrollment trends, facility conditions and programmatic needs.
BPS student musicians to compete at annual state contest and perform with all-state groups in spring 2026
At the end of April, student musicians from high schools in Bellingham Public Schools will head to the annual WIAA/WMEA Solo and Ensemble State Contest in Ellensburg, Washington. These musicians placed first in their category at the San Juan Music Educators Association (SJMEA) solo and ensemble regional contest held on Feb. 1 at Blaine High School in 2026.
Sehome baseball program honors longtime coach Gary Hatch with jersey retirement
Known to many as a local baseball legend, Hatch led the Mariners to three state titles and 18 state appearances while impacting thousands of student-athletes during a coaching career spanning more than four decades.
Roosevelt fourth graders transfer physics inquiry into archery lesson
Fourth graders in the Roosevelt Elementary classrooms of Jennifer Hanley and Megan Mayer experience what a "transfer of energy" looks like in real time and space through archery lessons. The students become risk-takers, communicators and reflective of their personal experiences.

Registration for fall kindergarten has begun in Bellingham Public Schools, and we are so excited to welcome all young learners! All children who will be 5 before Sept. 1, 2026 can be registered for kindergarten.
