Birchwood roundtable: students feel safe, heard and cared for
- Leaders, collaborators and team players
- Respectful and compassionate humans
- Student, Family and Community Engagement
Bellingham Public Schools board of directors, executive team and Superintendent Greg Baker met with a group of students from Birchwood Elementary School earlier this school year.
At Birchwood, students say school feels like a ginormous playdate — a place where friends, teachers and staff make them feel safe, heard and truly cared for. They shared with the board that they’re proud of their learning, love seeing their friends every day and appreciate how everyone looks out for one another. From favorite teachers to friends across all grades, Birchwood feels like home.
And yes… chocolate milk, swings, a bigger gym, and maybe a few more burritos are high on the wish list, too!
The board generally holds two to three student roundtables per school year.
