A Message from Superintendent Greg Baker

Dear students, staff, families and community,

We want to provide some information and answers to questions we are hearing from many of you.

Thank you to those who submitted questions after my message Friday. Staff, students and families shared a variety of questions, which include safety measures and staff training; budget planning and how we approach challenging budget decisions; our curriculum and more.

As the first semester wraps up, I also want to mention that January is School Board Appreciation Month. Our incredible school board was recognized as a Board of Distinction by the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) in the fall. Out of the 295 school boards in Washington state, only 30 boards received this recognition.

Bellingham school board members Kelly Bashaw, Douglas Benjamin, Camille Diaz Hackler, Jenn Mason and Katie Rose received the award. As you see them in our schools and around our community, I encourage you to congratulate them and thank them for their service.
