A Message from the Department of Teaching and Learning
Kindergarten registration begins!
Registration for fall kindergarten has begun in Bellingham Public Schools, and we are so excited to welcome all young learners! All children who will be 5 before Sept. 1, 2025 can be registered for kindergarten. Families can register their child online by following the instructions on our kindergarten webpage.
Registering kindergartners as early as possible helps us hire staff, balance classes, connect with families and get schools ready to welcome our youngest learners. Thanks in advance for letting a friend or neighbor with a future kindergartner know the registration window is open and ready for them!
All children who are currently enrolled in Promise K will automatically be enrolled in kindergarten at their neighborhood school for the fall and do not need to re-register.
To find out more about attendance areas, registration and childhood immunization requirements, please visit bellinghamschools.org/kindergarten or contact our elementary schools directly.
Promise Kindergarten – transitional kindergarten for children age 4 before Sept. 1, 2025
We invite all families within Bellingham Public Schools with a child who will be 4 before Sept. 1, 2025, to consider our transition to kindergarten program, called Promise Kindergarten, or Promise K. Promise K is a Transition to Kindergarten program for 4-year-olds who do not have access to high-quality early learning experiences.
Questions about Kindergarten or Promise K?
Children may enter Promise K based on ability and/or need, including social emotional or developmental needs. If you are interested in seeing if your child may be eligible, please visit our Promise K webpage or submit the online interest form. If you have any questions, please contact Gladys Serrano in the Department of Teaching and Learning or call 360-676-6488.
