A Message from Superintendent Greg Baker
Dear Cordata families,
I want to share a leadership update with you. During a staff meeting today at Cordata, we announced that Erica Rasmussen will be the principal of Cordata Elementary next school year.
As you may remember, Eva Chazo announced in April that she is taking a job with the Nooksack Valley School District next school year.
Ms. Rasmussen is currently an assistant principal at Parkview Elementary School. Prior to Parkview, she worked in the Mount Baker School District and served as assistant principal at Kendall Elementary for two years, then as principal at Acme Elementary for four years.
From 2017-19, Ms. Rasmussen held a variety of roles in Bellingham Public Schools, including dean and educational technology coach at Silver Beach, teacher at Sunnyland and administrative intern at Sunnyland and Happy Valley. Her teaching career began in Marysville School District where she taught first, third and fourth grades.
Ms. Rasmussen was part of our aspiring administrators cohort, and this year, she has been part of our new leader group. She brings maturity and warmth to this role and is a steady, gracious leader with years of experience in high poverty and Title I schools. Ms. Rasmussen is looking forward to building strong relationships with Cordata students, families and staff. She earned a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and administrative certification from Western Washington University.
Please join me in welcoming Ms. Rasmussen to Cordata and wishing Ms. Chazo all the best in her next adventure.
Greg Baker
