Bellingham Public Schools would like to remind staff, students, families and community members of upcoming school calendar items for January 2026.

• All schools will be on an early dismissal schedule on Thursday, Jan. 15. Elementary schools will dismiss at 12:20 p.m., middle schools at 1:15 p.m. and high schools at 2 p.m.
• All schools and the District Office will be closed Monday, Jan. 19 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and day of service. Please consider joining local community events and volunteer opportunities in honor of Dr. King. Find out more.
• All schools will also be closed on Thursday, Jan. 22 to commemorate Treaty Day. The District Office will be closed to the public. Bellingham Public Schools first implemented this commemorative day off in 2024. (Read more.) Treaty Day honors the signing of the 1855 Point Elliot Treaty which established sovereignty and fishing, hunting and gathering rights for local and regional tribal nations. BPS students will attend the annual Treaty Day Film Festival later this winter.
• Semester break is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28. There is no school for students.
