A Message from Superintendent Greg Baker
Dear staff, families, students and community,
I am pleased to let you know that as of the first election results released tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 4, our levies are passing!
Our supplemental operations levy is passing by 66% and our facilities maintenance levy is passing by over 62%.
You can keep track of the final vote totals at the Whatcom County Auditor’s election results page. The next round of results will be posted Wednesday at 5 p.m., and the election will be certified Nov. 25.
We are so thankful to our voters! Our local levies are critical for our students and our community – they represent a significant portion of our budget: nearly 25%. Many amazing staff and beneficial programs, services and equipment will be funded by these two levies.
I want to thank all the people who contributed to the success of this election. Our staff helped share information about our levies with our community, our school board supported putting forward these two levy resolutions on the ballot, and volunteers with the non-profit group Citizens for Bellingham Schools spent countless hours conducting important voter education and outreach.
We would not be where we are tonight without the hard work and dedication of literally thousands of our neighbors and friends.
With gratitude,
Greg Baker
