High School Advisory Task force 2022-23
Purpose(s)/Goals:
Make recommendations on how to improve the benefits and use of high school advisory minutes for all high school students
- Establish a clear purpose for advisory
- Make suggestions for improvement
Basis for Establishment:
Advisory class has been present in a variety of forms in our high schools for the past decade or more and has been implemented differently across classrooms and schools. Staff, families, and students have all identified a need for consistency and clarity regarding the purpose and structure of high school advisory, including but not limited to appropriate activities, content delivery, accountability, length, and frequency.
Decision-Making Process:
- Task force will make recommendations to the superintendent for improvements to high school advisory instructional time to be implemented in the 2023-2024 school year

Members:
Co-chairs: Jay Jordan, Heather Steele, Jeff Tetrick
- 1 building administrator from each building
- 2 certificated reps from each building
- 2 classified representatives (district wide)
- 1 student representative from each building
- 2 counselors (district wide)
- 1 DTL representative
- 2 HSBP Coordinators
- 2 parent/guardian representatives
- Ex-officio – Mike Copland, Dana Smith
Member Responsibilities:
- Attend all four meetings
- Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve use of advisory time for students
Budget Implications:
Any adjustment to the number of minutes per week could affect classroom instructional time, passing periods and FTE
